The Pregnancy Journey

Author: Sandra Wilson

It is no secret that the process of pregnancy provides many changes in a woman’s body. Some of these changes are joyful, while others are difficult to address. Fortunately for expectant mothers, there is a wealth of information out there, to help them with these changes. One such change pregnant women commonly experience is hair problems. The hair problems pregnant women suffer can be mild, all the way to severe. One of the most simple hair problems women see, is a change in the overall texture of their hair. Women who typically have soft silky, hair have seen it change. Instead they end up with rough, hard to manage hair during pregnancy.

These types of hair problems can be easily dealt with. Most often a simple change of hair care products can alleviate the hair problems. Different products can allow the hair to become more manageable. Women also want hair that not only feels good, but looks good as well. Hair care products, can provide this for them.

Other of the hair problems pregnant women experience, is a change in hair type. Some women who have normally oily hair, may see their hair become dry. These hair problems can also be handled with the right hair care products. Finding shampoos and conditioners, that have an added moisturizer, can particularly cure dry hair.

Hair problems in extreme cases involve the loss of hair. At least 40 - 50% of all pregnant women experience some form of hair loss while they’re pregnant. This is a common occurrence that can be addresses by dietary changes. Hair loss can also be remedied, in some pregnant women by the taking of supplements.

Pregnant women don’t only experience outward changes during the process of pregnancy. Many of them experience various other conditions as a result of being pregnant. Cholestastis, is one of those conditions. In cholestastis, bile is prevented from flowing naturally from the liver, and a blockage exists.

The unique thing about this condition is that it is only developed in pregnant women. This condition is another result of changes in the woman’s body. Typically it is developed in pregnant women who are in late pregnancy, most commonly the last trimester. One of the most well known symptoms of cholestastis is the itching, of various parts of the woman’s body.

This condition is treatable, and if caught early, presents no major risk to the unborn child. Topical creams are used to relieve the itching. And other medications are used to combat the other symptoms of cholestastis. There are also a number of natural remedies for symptoms. Both dandelion root and milk thistle can be used, because they are beneficial to the liver.

During pregnancy it is especially important to pay attention to all of the changes your body experiences. Many of them will be normal ones, experience by most pregnant women. But in other cases, these changes need to be addressed by your physician. Monitoring your own changes and symptoms, throughout pregnancy can be paramount to keeping yourself and your baby healthy.
